Mammad Aliyev was born in Baku on 15 May 1950. He spent his childhood in Yasamal, surrounded by a large and warm family. His father Mammad worked at a factory, his mother was a homemaker, and together they raised five children with great love.
After school he studied at Azerbaijan State University and worked as an engineer for many years. He was known for precision and patience in his projects. In 1974 he married Gular, and a year later their son Rauf was born.
